Welcome
The Ministry of Defence (MOD) has had a presence at St Athan for more than 70 years and during that time has become an integral part of the local community. Maintaining and building on these strong local links has been a priority for the Metrix project team while developing plans for the Defence Technical College (DTC).
Understanding that a project of this size and scale will be of real significance to people in the surrounding area, Metrix committed from the outset to keeping the local community informed about key project milestones and progress of the development.
The Metrix team also acknowledged the important role that feedback from local stakeholders and residents could play in shaping the overall plans for the College and therefore encouraged people to take an active part.

in the development of the masterplan. To this end, a comprehensive consultation programme was undertaken, including drop in exhibitions, workshops and interest groups, which allowed members of the public to view the proposals, ask questions directly to the project team and have a genuine opportunity to help shape areas of the masterplan. Throughout the consultation programme, Metrix has listened to and considered all the ideas put forward and, where possible, took them onboard and incorporated them into the scheme.

Planning consent was granted for the DTC in December 2009 and Metrix remains committed to maintaining open channels of communication throughout the construction process and once the College is operational
